In search of the elusive Judith MacKenzie, we headed to Brasstown, NC to attend a Perfect Pairing spinning class at the John C Campbell Folk School in While our expectation were high for spending a whole week honing our spinning skills with Judith, we had no idea we would fall in love with this place.
In April, we traveled to Dallas Fort Worth to attend the DFW Fiber Fest. How exciting it was to attend a major fiber festival. We attended classes, shopped at Expo (often) and enjoyed relaxing evenings at our hotel across the street from the convention center. We took part in a stitch marker exchange which turned out to be the best way to meet new friends.
In May, we traveled to Michigan’s Upper Pennisula to attend Country Spinners and Bridge Shuttlers Spring Fling. The U.P. is our original point of origin and to find a guild to join is great, but to find a group of talented and passionate fiber artist to learn from is nothing short of fabulous! The class list and instructors were impressive and the vendors high quality. It’s an intimate gather of friend who know each other well, but are welcoming to newcomers as well. I can’t wait to spend more time in the U.P. with these ladies!
